HOP (Human and Organisational Performance)

A safety philosophy built on the idea that error is normal and systems should absorb it.

HOP holds that error is normal and to be expected, that context drives behaviour, and that how an organisation responds to failure matters. EBS and HOP fit together: HOP says people will make mistakes; EBS says a Direct Control is one that still works when they do. Organisations running HOP use EBS to turn the principle into a test a crew can apply to a specific control on a specific task.
